Walking in Francis Guy's Brooklyn is a WebGL game developed by the Tesseract Center for Immersive Environments and Game Design in association with the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art to explore the painting and history of Francis Guy's "Winter Scene in Brooklyn".
For this project, I developed concept art and the 2.5D characters which inhabit the painting. I also painted this skybox to match the oil-painted style of the original while fitting the flat the composition to a 3D environment. This was done through several additive texture layers and testing each iteration in Unity to correct for seams or errors. Near the horizon line I included a dense treeline, which although wouldn't be accurate to Brooklyn in the 1800's, it adds to the "wintery" feel and provides a clear distinction of depth when walking around the game environment.
